Workers planting cherry tree recently
Residents of Confucious Plaza woke up Wed April 24 to a hole in the ground where a recently planted cherry tree was stolen during the night. Confucious Plaza is surrounded on the Bowery and Division Street sides by beautifully blooming trees each spring. Apparently, a homeowner or gardener noticed the recently planted tree and had to have it for their own. Police have no leads because there are no surveillance cameras by the foot of Manhattan bridge.
