Dozens of volunteers showed up at Columbus Park Saturday and Sunday to clean and spruce up the park. The volunteers organized by The New York Junior League cleaned, removed dead shrubbery and tilled the soil around planting areas.

The New York Junior League rotates its park clean-ups and lucky for Chinatown, Columbus Park was selected this year. The womans empowered organization is always looking for volunteers and new members.

Volunteers Tilling the soil

Heavily used picnic tables have been repaired with cannibalized barriers.

In addition to the spruce up, the New York Junior League will donate 10 picnic table seating areas. With cuts to the Parks department budget, the Parks dept had to resort to making makeshift repairs to the heavily used tables.
