The CCBA Chinese Consolidated Benevolent association 62 Mott Street
March 1 was supposed to be the changing of the guard at the CCBA (Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association) but this year the ceremony been put on indefinite hold. The CCBA presidency is rotated every 2 years as per their charter between the Hoy Sun Ning Yung association and The Lin Sing association for a 2-year term.
The departure from a timely transition is a first in the CCBAs history since its founding in 1883. The delay is attributed to ongoing infighting and pending lawsuits among factions within the Lin Sing Association. Although the factions reportedly agree on the same candidate, the dispute is who has the authority to officially nominate a candidate.
The current president Raymond Tsang from the Hoy Sun Ning Yung who is at the end of his 2-year term will serve as interim president until matters are resolved in court.
