Calm returned to Columbus Park Monday after a grisly murder late Saturday night. Around 3-3:30am Sunday morning 2 Chinese men apparently got into an argument or altercation which escalated to murder when 49yr old HuangYu Feng pulled a knife and thrust it into the neck of the still unidentified (Asian) victim.
Police responded and arrested Feng who was later charged with murder. Feng is homeless and most recently had been a client at the nearby Bowery Mission. The unidentified victim died enroute to the hospital.

Chinatown has seen its homeless population explode since the pandemic when the Deblasio administration warehoused homeless individuals in area hotels. Exposed also during the pandemic was the numbers of Chinese homeless that previously had blended in.
