As anticipated Duck Club has resubmitted their application to CB3 for a mega-club at 5 Chatham square.

Weeks after community groups held a presser in front of 5 Chatham square to herald and celebrate victory over a proposed mega-bar billed as a performance venue the operators have re-submitted the application to CB3 (community board 3). This time around dropping the “Duck Club” name which some local residents found offensive and simply using their corporate FLA LLC. and with a new lawyer.

The proposed venue will be operated by Tom Moore who currently serves as a director of productions for Baby’s All Right and founder of record label DPI Music. The proposed venue will host live bands, comedy shows and theatre. The expansive 10,000-foot venue was opposed by local residents and community-based organizations who feared the venue’s proposed hours of operation 7 days a week from 5pm to 4am would be disruptive to the neighborhood and create quality of life issues. Among the concerns would be nighttime crowds queuing up to enter, lines of car services clogging the narrow streets and noise in a quiet neighborhood.

The application is scheduled to be heard by CB3’s SLA committee on June 12. The link to join meeting can be found on Manhattan CB3’s website or directions to submit written testimony.
